Distinguished and Famous people from Mount Beauty

🚵 Paul van der Ploeg

Paul van der Ploeg was born and raised in Mount Beauty, with the Victorian High Country providing the riding country for an international cycling career. In 2013 he became world champion in cross-country eliminator mountain biking, a discipline that compresses the sport into short, fiercely contested races. It is mountain biking with very little time for admiring the view. He later became an official Ride High Country ambassador, speaking about the region from the perspective of someone who grew up riding there before competing around the world.
